Debbie Pierson and Randy Johnson released information on the second Bus Trip for 2017. It will be to Pagosa Springs and the Wolf Creek area. Dates of the trip are Feb 17 through Feb 20 (Presidents' Day weekend.) Extensive information on the ski area and cross country skiing around Wolf Creek Ski Area is available here.

This area has been one of our favorites not only because of the skiing but because it has one of the coolest hot springs resorts around. If you are looking for cross country skiing opportunities of any levels (C1 through C4), there are numerous sites along US 160 leading to Wolf Creek Ski Area, such as East Fork Rd, West Fork Rd, Fall Creek Rd, Lobo Overlook Radio Towers, and others. One of the Class 1 favorites is the Wolf Creek Nordic area off the end of the Ski Area parking lot, which includes many kilometers of both groomed and ungroomed trails.

We will be staying at the Quality Inn Pagosa, which is across the street from the Hot Springs Resort. Cost of the trip is expected to be about $275 plus any extras you might want, like food, lift tickets, etc. The town of Pagosa Springs has numerous fun restaurants and bars to enjoy. And these are right near the hotel, so you can come and go as you please, without having to wait for buses or hire taxis. Information on all things Pagosa Springs is available here.

  • Howdy snow lovers! There are still seats available on the bus to Pagosa Springs Friday, Feb. 17 – 20, 2017. Don’t miss out on the beauty of the area, the great skiing, and, of course, the food, fun and hot spring soaks! It’s going to be a “blast”! The daily breakfasts at Quality Inn (across from hot springs) consist of eggs/omelets to order, biscuits & gravy, yogurt, breads, sausage, scrambled eggs, coffee, etc. . . . basically a full breakfast. Cost of the trip for 3 nights at the inn (shared room), transportation, daily “happy hour”, and snacks, beer, wine, soft drinks on the bus is $273.00. Contact Debbie for registration information, at dldpierson@comcast.net.
